Why are there so few genealogy questions in the genealogy category?

Most of the questions are nonsense, or just in the wrong category. How do they end up genealogy asking a question?

I’m not sure — but I think it isnt so much that there are more by number in that category, but just fewer actual genealogy questions — because if you read any good answer asking for sources on how to research a name, its good for most any question. (See any of Ted Pack’s excellent answers.)

What I’m saying is: fewer actual genealogy questions, because they get answered quickly or don’t need to be asked if the answer to another question is read. This leaves a greater percentage of the off-the-wall or badly-categorized questions sitting around.

Because answers for this kind of problems are expensive ( a lot of work behind!) and for a lot of us is not the most important thing in this short life ! It could be interesting to know but what costs!!!!

I think a lot of people just don’t care where they put their questions. It would be nice if moderators could moderate the placement of questions. Geneaology is about geneaolgy..not private parts, dinner ideas, etc questions.

Probably because a lot of the adolescent brains using this site are too ignorant to even know what genealogy means.

    No moderators, I suppose.

It would be nice if Yahoo set up a volunteer system where people can moderate the categories and keep the questions in the appropriate places.

I was wondering the same thing. Gets rather tiresome wading through all the stupid garbage. There’s always some in any crowd trying to ruin a good thing for others…..
