Burial: Fairview Cementary, Dyersburg, Dyer County, Tennessee (NOTES: Was taught to hunt by his Uncle Joe, always into adventure. His brothers almost canoed over a falls but a local famer saved them just feet from the edge. Learned to hunt by the age of eight. Was given one bullet a day and learned to make it count.Father built a mill that got washed out in the spring. Bought an Inn next to the road that went from Abingdon, Virginia to Knoxville, Tenn. At the age of twelve a famer stopped by and hired Davey to help bring a team of horses and a herd of cattle to Virginia. (400 miles) Came back and His father John decided that the kids should get some schooling. Davy lasted four days, got in a fight. Started playing hookey. Father caught him, said he could either go to school an get a whipping or not go and get a bigger whipping. He ran off. Worked job after job. He was a plowboy on a farm, apprentice to a hat maker, a wagoner helper, a clean up boy at a mill. Returned home in 1802. Family did not recognize him at first. Went back working on a teacher's farm in exchange for board and room plus schooling. He learned to read and write. Rifle's name was "Old Betsy". Was a scout under General Andrew Jackson in the war of 1812. Became a member of Congress. He left Congress in protest of inhumane treatment of the Indian Nations. Died in the defense of the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, being overun by a huge army of Mexicans led by General Santa Anna.)
