andrewrost3241981 asked: What is the best genealogical resource available? It DOES NOT have to be a free site/resource. The Mormon Family Search site has only limited information. I would like it to have as much information as possible such as census, marriage, death, military, criminal, baptismal, foreign, medical, immigration, naturalization or as many other records as possible.

Answers is run by hippocrites asked: I am looking for a good genealogy software package that will run on Microsoft Windows XP. I’ve used Family Tree Maker in the past; however, you never know if you have the latest version. It seems that they come out with a new version practically once per month.
Please keep price, quality, and ease of use in mind when giving a recommendation.
Also, I would like to store a photograph or two (at least) of the person, scans of paperwork regarding the person, and maybe even a voice recording if possible.

Thomas A asked: My family is paranoid about identity theft and won’t tell me anything about themselves or others in the family? Makes it really hard to do a genealogy. Are their fears justified?

Conquistador asked: And please say why you think it is. I’m considering getting a new program. I have Heritage Family Tree Deluxe which I got as a first time program. However I would like something better now. One thing I would like if possible is when creating a web page that it can go past 32 generations. Heritage limits that to just 32.
What are some cool features in yours that you enjoy? I was considering RootsMagic because it sounded so good but they dont go beyond the 32 generations in creating a web page. (Anyone know why?)
Thanks.
Thanks so far to everyone who answered this question, you gave it a lot of thought and details and also pointed out some things to me I hadnt considered. I wish I could give you all 10 points. But since I cant I’m giving my thanks to you now. I can see you all went to a lot of work to answer this. Thanks.

Overseas E asked: The Military Law Review, Vol. 156 (June 1998) mentions “The Laws of War Genealogy Project” however my associates and I have been unable to find any information about this Project on the internet. Does anyone know the correct URL for this database? Or a contact email address for the editors?
An associate of mine emailed the Military Law Review’s Editor about this matter several months ago, however no reply was received. Any information in regard to locating this “The Laws of War Genealogy Project” would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Eugene

RaceBannonOwnsChuckNorris asked: I would assume two of the most common are assuming the wrong national origin of a surname and that a coat of arms applies to all members of one’s family, if it applies at all to that family.
